The Courier of Montgomery County reports that the new library and community center in the Woodlands has been renamed by Montgomery County commissioners as the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center.
On Tuesday, the court okayed the name honoring the longtime congressman
Commissioners approved former Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack’s action to make the name of the new facilities the Heroes of Montgomery County Library and the Heroes of Montgomery County Community Center back in November.
Commissioners in January, however, decided to rescind the name of the new facility which is in the Grogan’s Mill Village Center. A focus group to explore other name possibilities was formed by newly elected Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler.
Wheeler said that after several meetings they kept going back to the same name.
Brady’s wife, Cathy, was on hand to accept the rendering of the library and center as Brady was out of town.
Back in 2021 Brady announced that he wouldn’t be seeking a new term. He was first elected to office in 1996 and was on the Ways and Means Committee and at one time was the committee’s chairman.
