Community Impact reports the official project list for the $480 million road bond initiative going before voters May 3rd has been published by Montgomery County in partnership with LJA Engineering. It encompasses 76 projects in 4 precincts.
Back on February 11th, Montgomery County commissioners okayed putting a $480 million road bond referendum before voters. Each commissioner, for their precinct, would receive $120 million to complete projects.
If approved by voters, the bond should not result in an increase in property tax, according to Managing Partner at BOK Financials, John Robuck. Robuck said the reason for this is that the county lowered its debt service over the last several years to allow for the issuance of $120 million a year in debt using the county’s funding collections.
Commissioners are legally not able to advocate for or against the bond referendum once called, according to the Montgomery County Attorney’s office. An email address at roadbond25@mctx.org and website, however, have been set up by the county for county residents to direct questions, so the Texas Open Meetings Act will not be violated.
